ABOUT GINA

Photo of Gina SartenI qualified as a Naturopath in 2015 after spending many years studying part time, therefore I know all about the juggle required between work, family, and how difficult it is to prioritise yourself when there are so many demands on your time. Natural health took a big part in raising my children, believing that I could do a lot without needing to regularly see the family doctor (unless something more serious occurred). I certified as a BodyTalk practitioner and Reiki Master/Trainer in 2008, I use these modalities regularly to enhance my Naturopath treatments, believing that treating the body/mind and spirit is necessary to really make change.

While I’m a Naturopath and help clients overcome a wide variety of health issues, I also I see myself as a health & wellness coach. I can help you review food choices – does your diet contain a variety of nutritious food; are there any food sensitivities, plus look at lifestyle practices – do you get enough sleep; what about exercise; do you take any time to just enjoy life; what is your work-life balance like? The goal is to make little changes easy, rather than becoming stressed and overwhelmed.

I’ve had an interest in working with stress, anxiety and depression for a few years, it’s something that has become increasingly common in all age groups, questions like “why do I feel like this?”, “where has my energy gone?”, “how do I get back to being me?”. I still investigate nutrition and life-style choices, but that doesn’t always seem to be enough. Stress complicates many health challenges and I believe it’s actually one of the main drivers of ill health. We put so much pressure on ourselves to perform at our best all the time. I keep meeting active relaxers, people who have not learnt to relax, this raises a concern as they also struggle to decompress from stress. NLP is a helpful tool to make changes in this area, I may also suggest food changes, hydrotherapy, essential oils, supplements, exercise, and more.

I’ve worked with essential oils for a long time, they were brilliant when my children were young! Perfect for fevers, sore tummy, chicken pox, colds, scrapes, bites, calming the space, providing a loving touch. More recently I’ve been playing with creating essential oil products, protection blends, massage blends, I’ve even started making soaps!

Homeobotanicals (HB’s) are a form of homeopathically prepared herbal blends, they allow the creation of a great mixture specifically for any client. With some 60+ blends available in both oral drop form and creams, a mix can be created to cover any need. These are a perfect option in a treatment plan as they don’t interact with medications and are simple to administer, very affordable too.

I regularly use QRA (quantum reflex analysis) with my clients, this is a method of muscle testing used to identify the location of energy blockages and therefore recommend appropriate supplements to personalise the treatment plan – this removes a lot of the guess work from my suggestions.

I include NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) within sessions for some clients, I find that this helps to better understand what’s going on emotionally for a client and provides techniques to better manage many emotional challenges. Anxiety, stress, grief, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, accepting change, blocks to health, unable to maintain weight loss – its clear that weight loss is as much about emotional stress as it is about food choices and exercise. Therefore, it’s not too great a stretch to imagine that other physical issues may have an emotional component.

While I’ve utilised used energy treatments for many years, recently I’ve begun treatments for vaccine damage focused on healing the energetic body which then encourages healing on the physical body. There is a technique for this within the BodyTalk protocol, plus I’ve begun training (Feb 2022) to read the energy centres for a second treatment option.

Whats important to me?

My family are vital to my well-being, but I also know that to be the best for them I have to prioritise myself.  How can I care for them if I can’t get out of bed because of a migraine.  I learned this when my kids were little, putting effort into myself pays off for everyone.  I’m far from perfect though, there are plenty of days when I can’t manage to cook so reach for takeaways, and my exercise is suffering lately.  Its important to learn cause and effect, but keep things in balance – life’s about living, not being perfect!

Why Naturopathy?

I’ve enjoyed working in the finance area, but to be honest its not an area that I find fulfilling.  I’m not someone who suffered through life with health issues, except during pregnancy what a shock that was! I was able to manage by modifying diet and exercise, this, combined with wanting to get answers to normal childhood illnesses without needing to visit the doctor, started my journey.  A journey I don’t expect to complete any time soon!
